As we have described in seven books the events from the time of the apostles, 2492 we think it proper in this eighth book to record for the information of posterity a few of the most important occurrences of our own times, which are worthy of permanent record. Our account will begin at this point.
Literally, “the succession of the apostles” (τὴν τῶν ἀποστόλων διαδοχήν).
